Hiring employees is no small task. It takes a lot of time and information and you don’t want to mess this process up!
The employees will fill out W-4 so you know how much income tax to withhold from paychecks and I-9 forms to prove they are authorized to work in the US.
You will need to report their name, SSN, and some other general information about their employment to the state by a certain deadline after their first day.
You will need workers’ compensation insurance.
You will need to hang posters. Depending on where your business is located, you will need to use the Department of Labor’s Poster Advisor tool.
Each state has it’s own laws for minimum wage, garnishments, termination, and more.
